RESOLUTION

This congregation at Karachi Press Club attending seminar on Violation of Human Rights in the Name of War Crime Cases in Bangladesh unanimously resolved that since formation of Government, in Bangladesh, the Awami League led by Haseena Wajid has started a series of systematic violation of human of rights and the cases under pretext of war crimes are a part of it.

It is resolved that successive Governments in Bangladesh have been shying away from question of Pre 1971 genocide of patriotic Pakistani Bengali and Non Bengali Muslims by the Indian sponsored mercenaries of Mukti Bahni and agents of RAW who infiltrated into East Pakistan before formal Indian intervention that led to succession of East Pakistan.

It is a known fact that Mukti Bahni and RAW agent carried out a con concerted campaign of violence, intimidation, target killing/assassinations and terrorism in general,  as a consequence Army was deployed and sympethisers of Pakistan & Armed Forces were also forced to takes arms in self defense.

On the other hand some for past 40 year since 1971 over a million Muslim Biharis, who had originally migrated to East Pakistan from Indian state of Bihar, are kept in over 66 concentration camps under inhumane conditions, have been denied basic human rights including right to live freely, right to education, freedom of vote and freedom of work.

These actions of Bangladesh govt. are a clear violation of United Nations Human Rights Declaration and subsequent International Treaties on Human Rights, Women Rights and Children Rights to which Govt. of Bangladesh itself is a signatory.

In contrast to Bangladesh the people of Pakistan have proven their generosity by accepting some 200,000 Biharis and some 1.5 Million Bengalis who entered Pakistan post 1971 war years.

We condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the Bangladesh Govts decision to try some 1600 Muslims Bengalis and Biharis for alleged war crimes during 1971 war. We consider these cases to be fabricated, biased and against international treaties & conventions.

There are elements in Haseena Wajid Govt. who themselves were involved in crimes against humanity and should be tried in International Criminal Court, free of prejudices.

We appeal to human rights organizations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and United Nations Human Rights Council to take note of Bangladesh govt. inhumane and cruel treatment of Bihari, Bengali Muslims.

We appeal to international community to put necessary pressure on Haseena Wajid Govt. to take back fabricated cases and to abandon its inhumane policies bases on racial discrimination.

We demand that Govt. of Pakistan should summon the Bangladeshi Ambassador in Islamabad to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey the prevalent anxiety among Pakistani Muslims and Pakistan’s Ambassador in Dhaka should call upon Bangaldesh Foreign Minister to express Pakistan’s concerns over this issue.

This Resolution was presented by Muhammad Tariq Khan Joint Secretary Human Rights Network on May 30, 2012 at Karachi Press Club and was approved by all present.
